The Founders Club

JOIN THE FOUNDERS CLUB TODAY! Our housing costs jumped from $14,000 to $43,000 and we need your help!  For a one time minimum donation of $19.63, in honor of our founding year, you will be enrolled in the FOUNDERS CLUB, a digital group with access to fun online extras, like actor interviews, rehearsal footage, and special updates from me, the artistic director.   OUR GOAL With many small donations, we can make a big impact. Our goal is to raise $30,000.00, with 1,500 small donations. This will offset our raised housing rental costs for our 2023 season, and help us produce our 60th season! WHY I SHOULD JOIN? This year, our housing rental costs with Lock Haven University unexpectedly tripled, and we are still recovering like so many regional theaters from the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic. To offset these unexpected costs, we are asking all of our patrons, and social media friends to join the FOUNDERS CLUB to help the playhouse with our season operating costs. With only 1,500 donations, we can reach our goal. WHAT DO I GET After you donate, you’ll be added here on our FOUNDERS CLUB website page, where every member’s name will be displayed, as well as how close we are to our $30,000 goal! You’ll also receive a weekly email through our entire summer season, with exclusive access to behind the scenes looks at our productions, digital archives, actor interviews, and special messages from our staff, actors, and students!  HOW TO JOIN Make your one time donation of $19.63 by clicking the button below! Millbrook Playhouse The Book.

Millbrook Playhouse: the first fifty years. By Kathy Arndt In 1962, the idea of a theatre came to fellow artists Dan Reinhold and Peter Gstalder as they walked through the abandoned dairy barn. Over the next year, through the herculean efforts of dozens of people, the dream became a reality when the Playhouse opened its doors in July 1963. The perfect gift for the Millbrook and the theatre lover.  About the book Millbrook Playhouse: The First Fifty Years by Kathy Arndt traces the history of one of the few barn theatres still existing in the Eastern United States. The actors, crew, staff, board members, business supporters, donors, volunteers, the theatre-going public, and the participants in the children and youth programs all played a role in the history of Millbrook Playhouse. This is their story. About the author Kathy L. Arndt was born in Lock Haven and was a graduating member of the Class of ’69.  She was the first to graduate with a BA in History from Lock Haven State College.  Kathy then received a Master’s degree in Latin American History from the University of Texas in Austin.  Returning to Lock Haven in 1977, she worked as a clerk at Piper for 3 years.  The week after she received her last unemployment benefit check in 1982, she began working for the state of Pennsylvania in the Unemployment Compensation section of the Dept. of Labor and Industry.  In 1985, Kathy moved on to a permanent position as a records manager at the Department of Environmental Resources/Protection office in Williamsport.  She retired in 2011 after 26 years.  Kathy is a former board member of Millbrook Playhouse and still volunteers there as the historian and an usher.  She also volunteers at the Clinton County Historical Society as a researcher and a board member.  Personally, in addition to having a keen interest in local history, Kathy loves to read, to travel, to watch movies, and to spend time with her friends and family.
