THEATRE CAMPS AND CLASSES

Millbrook provides a safe space for artists of every age to explore the wonderful world of live theater! We strive to allow performers of all ages to learn, grow, play, and explore through our educational programs. All of our productions and camps are directed by working professionals who bring their unique perspective and real world experience into a classroom setting to enrich our students. Each experience is designed to teach young people the fundamentals of performing, and build confidence, empathy, and awareness on and off stage.

FALL ACTING CLASSES

The Audition Prep Intensive for Performers in Grades 5–12

Auditions for Millbrook Playhouse’s upcoming production of Disney’s Frozen are right around the corner! High school musical audition season will be here before you know it—and fall play auditions are already lining up.

Are you ready to walk into the audition room with total confidence?

Own the Room is an intensive, practical workshop designed to help young actors master the audition process from start to finish. This class is led by Ericka Lee Conklin, director of Millbrook’s blockbuster hit Annie and the Drama Director of the award-winning Drama Club at Central Mountain High School. Under her expert guidance, students in grades 5–12 will gain the exact tools they need to stand out, make bold artistic choices, and showcase their absolute best selves.

Whether you are preparing for your very first audition or leveling up for mainstage roles and college programs, you’ll leave this workshop with polished material, stronger technique, and the inner confidence to command any stage.

What You’ll Master:

  • Material Selection & Prep: How to choose the right monologue and musical cut for you (and what “overdone” really means).

  • Monologue Technique: Marking up your script, finding your objectives and tactics, and creating a believable physical character.

  • Acting Through Song: How to connect with your sheet music, communicate with an accompanist or track, and tell a story through vocal performance.

  • In-the-Room Etiquette: Mastering your slate, dressing for success, establishing your “moment before,” and making an immediate impression.

  • Cold Reading: Techniques for tackling scripts you’ve never seen on the spot—plus an insider look at how casting decisions are actually made!

  • The Mock Audition Experience: Put your new skills to the test in a realistic audition setting! Participants will “audition” before a distinguished panel of experienced teachers, directors, and theatre professionals from educational and professional settings. Each student will receive invaluable, personalized feedback to refine their performance before real-world auditions begin.

  • Option 2: Wednesday, September 23 & Friday, September 25 (4:30 PM – 6:30 PM) + Saturday, September 26 Mock Audition Panel

Total Tuition: $100 (Includes your choice of weekday session + the Saturday Mock Audition)

Little Theatre Camp - One Week

The Little’s Theatre Camp One-Week Camp

  • Ages: 6 through 9
  • Dates: Monday through Friday.

This week-long stage adventure is the perfect introduction to theater for young performers. All week, campers will play theater games to introduce them to the basics of performing, while learning songs and dances to showcase their skills. This process-based camp allows room for new performers to explore the performing arts without the pressures of a traditional rehearsal process and show. Instead, campers will interact through theater through improvisational games, storytelling, group songs, and group dances, which are carefully designed to help your little one build knowledge and confidence on stage and off. Our immersive and gentile experience culminates in an open classroom where we invite families and friends to watch our week of singing, dancing, and games come to life center stage!

Teen Performing Arts Academy- Two Weeks

Teen Performing Arts Academy – Two-Week Camp

  • Grades: 8th through Grade 12
  • Dates: Week One: Monday through Friday.
  • Week Two: Monday through Friday.
  • Time: 9 am – 3 pm
  • Performances: Fri and Sat.
  • Camp Instructors: TBA

 The Teen Performing Arts Academy (TPAA) is designed to enrich, uplift, and enlighten students who are serious about the Performing Arts. The Academy is the perfect opportunity for dedicated performers to learn and hone their craft through professional training that mimics a professional rehearsal schedule. Students will hone their talents as actors, singers, and dancers by learning from working professionals.

The TPAA blends a wide range of master classes, taught by various artists working at the professional Millbrook company, with the rehearsal process for a musical designed for beginners to more experienced performers. Having classes and rehearsals side by side gives students the opportunity to use their training immediately to grow and enrich their performances. All master classes and rehearsals are designed to help each young performer reach their maximum potential.

Junior's Camp - One Week

Junior’s Camp – One-Week Camp
Grades: 4th-7th grade
Dates: Monday through Friday.
Time: 9 am – 4 pm
Performances: Friday, Saturday.
Camp Instructors: TBA

Whether your young actor is just starting out on stage or is a more experienced performer, the Junior’s Camp offers an enriching experience for everyone! This camp is designed to teach your young performer the foundational elements of being on stage through the rehearsal process for a musical. Your young actor will learn projection, diction, theater vocabulary, and performance techniques while building their confidence on and off stage. The rehearsal process allows all campers to learn and grow to their individual maximum potential, regardless of prior experience.

Junior’s Camp will culminate in a performance of designed perfectly for beginner to advanced students.

  • Tickets: $13 Adult, $10 Student/Yout
  • Tuition includes two complimentary tickets per registrant.
