Gutenberg the Musical
By Scott Brown and Anthony King
July 31 - August 9
in the Poorman Cabaret
Directed by Lawrence Lesher
About the show:
In this two-man musical spoof, a pair of aspiring playwrights perform a backers’ audition for their new, ill-advised project – a big, splashy musical about printing press inventor Johann Gutenberg. With an unending supply of enthusiasm, Bud and Doug sing all the songs and play all the parts in their crass historical epic, with the hope that one of the producers in attendance will give them that elusive Broadway contract.
What the critics say:
“A master class in musical comedy.” – New York Stage Review
“Extremely, deliciously silly!” – The Daily Beast
“This uproarious show delivers big laughs!” – Entertainment Weekly
“Gleefully funny!” – Deadline
“A fast-paced theatrical romp that revels in the art of making something out of nothing.” – Theater Latté Da
